  1. Recently, I’ve felt inspired to revisit some favourite authors. I’ve just finished Interview With the Vampire by Anne Rice and have started With My Body by Nikki Gemmell. Although the latter is a bit shocking in places, Gemmell’s prose is, as always, beautiful.

      • Literary Fiction. Gemmell is an Australian author of Literary fiction and erotica, I think her most famous novel is the Bride Stripped Bare. I’ve been reading her books for most of my adult life, when I was about 17 or 18, there was a huge controversy here in Adelaide where someone tried to get her novel Cleave banned from South Australian libraries and I decided to find a copy just to see what all the fuss was about. Anyway, long story short, I loved her beautiful prose and I have read most of her books in the years that followed. One of her early novels, Shiver is a great read, it is about a young woman who goes on an expedition to Antarctica.

  2. Actually dread to think what my current reading says about me, but it’s a riveting read, so I won’t be ashamed! It’s ‘The Woman who Fed the Dogs’ by Kristien Hemmerechts, about the woman who was ex-wife and accomplice of Belgian serial killer and sociopath Marc Dutroux. Almost unbearable psychological insight (it’s fiction, though, not true crime).

  3. I’m currently reading You by Zoran Drvenkar – 500 pages written in the second person present tense. Hmm… oddly it’s pretty good so far, though I still don’t really know what it’s about. A bunch of teeenagers and a dead body…
