Description:

Frieda Klein reluctantly faces a case that penetrates to her very core. Saturday Requiem is classic Nicci French – a dark, gripping and sophisticated masterclass in psychological suspense in which nothing is quite what it seems . . .

‘Nicci French’s sophisticated, compassionate and gripping crime novels stand head and shoulders above the competition’   Sophie Hannah

***

Thirteen years ago eighteen year old Hannah Docherty was arrested for the brutal murder of her family. It was an open and shut case and Hannah’s been incarcerated in a secure hospital ever since.

When psychotherapist Frieda Klein is asked to meet Hannah and give her assessment of her she reluctantly agrees. What she finds horrifies her. Hannah has become a tragic figure, old before her time. And Frieda is haunted by the thought that Hannah might be as much of a victim as her family; that something wasn’t right all those years ago.

And as Hannah’s case takes hold of her, Frieda soon begins to realise that she’s up against someone who’ll go to any lengths to protect themselves . . .

Saturday Requiem is the sixth addictive and intriguing novel in the Frieda Klein series by the bestselling author Nicci French.

My View:

Could this series can any better? I dont think so.

This read was everything you might want in a psychological thriller – a taut narrative, great characterisations, tension, tension tension and the incredibly delicious  feeling of dread the reader has as they turn each page, always expecting the  worse, their heads filled with theories and consequences and empathy for the incarcerated anti-hero.

Frieda Klein is at her investigative best! The closer Frieda gets to solving this mystery the more dangerous life becomes – for her and those around her. Loved loved LOVED IT!

Could this series can any better? Surprise me Nicci French.

(I have one niggling worry – could the next book be the last in the series? I hope not)

    • Rebecca I hope that is not the case, I want this series to go on and on…I do love the character Freida Klien – such a calm and rational person…but the tension is certainly building I think the next book will be explosive! I think this would be a great series to sit and read one after the other 🙂

  1. I love this series so much and it’s top of my TBR wishlist but I think the next installment will probably be the last in the series. Hopefully they’ll keep writing other brilliant, twisty, turny thrillers, but I wouldn’t mind them taking a break for a year so Nicci Gerrard can write one of her stand alone novels – I thought Missing Persons and Solace were excellent.
